Meanwhile, the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery hosted its event titled "Caring for Deaf and Mute Children: Opening Up a World of Sound"; the Breast Surgery Department organized a meeting for the "Breast Cancer Patient Support Group"; and the Pediatric Ophthalmology Department delivered specialized medical科普 lectures on topics such as "Child Safety and Emergency First Aid for Pediatric Eye Injuries," all held directly in their respective hospital wards.

"Volunteering has been incredibly rewarding—seeing patients recover is the greatest reward for our efforts."

"Let’s dedicate our hearts to caring for everyone, helping others overcome the challenges of illness—and in doing so, ‘lighting up’ ourselves as well. Why wouldn’t we embrace this rewarding opportunity?"

"The volunteer team at the Second Affiliated Hospital will increasingly connect with patients on a deeper level, becoming a beacon of civility within the hospital."

This is the heartfelt message from the volunteers at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University—they are doctors, nurses, students, and caring individuals from all walks of life, united by a shared goal! In them, we can truly sense the deep sense of responsibility and mission that define the "volunteer spirit," as well as the hospital’s guiding principle of "Upholding Virtue to Benefit the People." Their actions serve as the perfect embodiment of how the hospital is putting socialist core values into practice.

On December 5, "International Volunteer Day," medical professionals proudly raised the banner of the "Hospital Volunteer Team" on this meaningful occasion, enthusiastically joining the vibrant wave of volunteer efforts. The volunteer activity, themed "Walking Together in Volunteering, Compassion, and Civilization," drew enthusiastic participation from numerous volunteers. Some guided patients seeking medical care, while others eagerly offered free blood sugar, cholesterol, and blood pressure screenings to the public. Meanwhile, others took time to explain the significance of volunteering to newly joined team members. And then there were volunteers who ventured directly into the "Care Ward," providing hands-on support to hospitalized patients...

Meanwhile, the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery held its "Caring for Deaf and Mute Children: Opening Up a World of Sound" event; the Breast Surgery Department organized a "Breast Cancer Patient Support Group" meeting; and the Pediatric Ophthalmology Department presented specialized medical科普 lectures on topics such as "Child Safety and Emergency First Aid for Pediatric Eye Injuries," all conducted in their respective hospital wards.

This event provided free blood sugar, cholesterol, and blood pressure screenings to a total of 344 individuals, distributed 532 copies of disease prevention and management brochures, recruited 32 volunteers on-site, and offered consultation services to 486 members of the public.

As a large, comprehensive hospital, we have always placed great emphasis on the socio-psychological factors associated with illness in our medical practices. Committed to fulfilling our social responsibilities and promoting mutual support within the community, the hospital actively recruits and builds a dedicated volunteer team. Volunteering not only helps cultivate a stronger professional ethos among our healthcare staff, deepening their understanding of patients' psychological needs, but also enhances their ability to communicate effectively with patients. In turn, this fosters personal growth for everyone involved, ultimately fostering a more harmonious doctor-patient relationship.

The hospital has integrated volunteer services into its daily operations, serving as a complementary component to its comprehensive patient care offerings. By combining the spirit of volunteerism with the compassionate ethos of saving lives and alleviating suffering, these initiatives have become a vital part of the hospital’s public service mission. Since September 2011, hospital leadership has actively championed the development of volunteer programs, personally leading by example in participating in community service activities. Volunteers can now be seen every morning at the outpatient building, assisting with tasks such as guiding patients, directing them to the right departments or tests, helping with registration for medical cards, printing examination reports, providing health consultations, managing crowd flow, discouraging smoking, and maintaining a clean and orderly environment—offering a wide range of essential support services to both patients and visitors.

The hospital has fully leveraged its unique strengths in the healthcare and medical services sector, aligning with its core mission of putting people first. In doing so, it has launched a series of well-defined, educational, and targeted volunteer activities. These initiatives include "Medical Volunteer Services at the Grassroots Level," "Bringing Healthcare to Rural Areas," the "Jinhui Initiative" aimed at caring for elderly individuals living alone, and volunteer efforts focused on supporting vulnerable groups such as deaf and mute children. As a result, volunteer programs are steadily thriving toward greater diversity and broader societal engagement.

While dedicating their kindness, volunteers place even greater emphasis on passing the torch of compassion forward. Their sincerity and enthusiasm have allowed patients to deeply appreciate the thoughtful service and heartfelt human care provided by the volunteers. With their actions, the volunteers have beautifully composed a song celebrating volunteerism, love, and the spirit of civility.

The Second Affiliated Hospital has registered 2,351 volunteers, who have collectively provided 9,430 volunteer hours/individual contributions. Over 120,000 individuals have participated in these services, helping the hospital establish a strong public image of community engagement and philanthropy.

Hospital volunteer activities have become the most beautiful symbol of promoting a new, civilized ethos. 6355362567354902007907326.jpg
