Department Overview

Founded in the 1950s, the Department of Neurosurgery is one of China’s earliest specialized neurosurgical units and also ranks among the first three national clinical training centers for neurosurgeons approved by the Ministry of Health. It was among the first institutions authorized by the State Council to confer doctoral degrees (1986) and master’s degrees (1981), and today serves as a key doctoral training hub and postdoctoral research station for neurosurgery in Western China.
