Department Overview

The Department of Urology is one of the earliest urology specialties established in China, boasting a robust foundation in the field. It has long served as a leading national center for clinical care, research, and education in urological diseases, minimally invasive urology, and kidney transplantation—remaining at the forefront of academic excellence across the country. The department is authorized to confer master’s and doctoral degrees in urology and hosts a postdoctoral research station. Additionally, it is recognized as the Southwest Minimally Invasive Urology Training Center of the Urology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association and has partnered with the Clinical Skills Training Center to become the first institution in Asia accredited by the American College of Surgeons (ACS). At the end of 2012, it also established the Southwest Urolithiasis Treatment Center under the Urology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association. In 2012, the department successfully secured approval for the Ministry of Health’s National Clinical Key Specialty Construction Project. Building on this achievement, the Sichuan University West China Hospital Institute of Urology was officially founded in 2014, marking a new chapter in the department’s integrated efforts in medical practice, research, and education.

Graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, and pursued master’s and doctoral studies at the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences—becoming the first medical doctor in dermatology at Guang’anmen Hospital. Over more than 20 years in clinical practice, I have remained steadfastly patient-centered, diligently studying and synthesizing the time-tested wisdom of renowned traditional Chinese medicine practitioners. Balancing both Western and traditional approaches, I’ve tackled challenging dermatological cases, accumulating extensive clinical expertise along the way. Notably, I reported the country’s first case of a rare skin disease and developed innovative treatments such as the "Yu Yin Formula" for psoriasis, the "Moisturizing Application Formula" for eczema and dermatitis, and the "Qu Yu Powder" for flat warts. These contributions earned me recognition, including the title of "Top 10 Young and Middle-aged Doctors at Guang’anmen Hospital" in its inaugural edition, as well as being named among the second cohort of "Outstanding Young and Middle-aged TCM Physicians" by the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. In terms of research, my work on the holistic TCM-based treatment and foundational studies of vulgaris psoriasis has been honored with the Second-Class Science and Technology Award from the China Association of Chinese Medicine, ranking second among all contributors. Academically, I hold several key leadership roles: 1. Vice President of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Aesthetics Branch of the Chinese Association of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery; 2. Vice President of the Dermatology Branch of the China Association for the Promotion of Chinese Medicine Research; 3. Committee Member of the Dermatology Branch of the China Association of Chinese Medicine; 4. Deputy Chairperson of the Dermatology and Venereology Professional Committee of the Beijing Association for Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine; 5. Deputy Chairperson of the Dermatology and Venereology Professional Committee of the Beijing Association of Chinese Medicine. Additionally, I have led or co-led 11 research projects and authored/co-authored over 30 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters as first or corresponding author.
