On July 21, 2023, the third event in the series titled "Party Building Leading Collaborative Development and High-Quality Medical Resources Flowing Downward," organized by the Department of Orthopedics at West China Hospital of Sichuan University, was successfully held at West China Guang'an Hospital of Sichuan University.
Led by Professor Ning Ning, Director of the Orthopedic Nursing Discipline and Head of the Orthopedics Party Branch at West China Hospital of Sichuan University; Professor Chen Jiali, Head Nurse of the Orthopedics Department; Professor Zhou Quan, Secretary of the Joint Party Branch of Surgery at West China Guang'an Hospital of Sichuan University; and Professor Chen Hua, Head Nurse of the hospital's surgical division, representatives from the West China Orthopedics Party Branch, along with approximately 50+ party members, cadres, and delegates from various departments within the surgical area of West China Guang'an Hospital, attended this joint Party-building event.
At the beginning of the event, Professor Hua Chen, Head Nurse of the Department of Urology and Chief of Surgery at Huaxi Guang'an Hospital, introduced the participants from both sides. Professor Quan Zhou, Secretary of the Joint Party Branch of the Department of Surgery at Huaxi Guang'an Hospital and Director of Spinal Surgery, warmly welcomed the arrival of the orthopedic experts from Huaxi. He expressed his hope that this party-building exchange would serve as a catalyst to strengthen ties with Huaxi Orthopedics, facilitate the sharing of high-quality medical resources to local areas, enhance the quality and standards of healthcare services provided by Huaxi Guang'an Hospital, and ultimately foster collaborative momentum to better serve the broader community.
Professor Chen Jiali, Organizational Committee Member of the West China Orthopedics Party Branch and Head Nurse of the Orthopedics Department, on behalf of all colleagues in West China Orthopedics and every party member in the branch, expressed gratitude to the Surgical (Joint) Party Branch of West China Guang'an Hospital for their warm welcome. She emphasized that West China Guang'an Hospital is a deeply affiliated hospital under the leadership of West China Hospital, and the bond between the two institutions runs even deeper than blood—rooted in mutual support and shared growth, yielding remarkable achievements. Notably, Professor Wang Guanglin from our institute’s Trauma Specialty once served as the president of West China Guang'an Hospital, further strengthening the emotional connection between West China Orthopedics and its Guang'an counterpart. Professor Chen Jiali concluded by expressing her hope that this joint Party-building initiative would not only promote the clinical philosophy and cultural values of West China Hospital and its Orthopedics Department but also foster greater mutual understanding between the two institutions. This, she believes, will lay a solid foundation for even more meaningful collaboration and exchange in the future. Following her remarks, Professor Chen Jiali delivered a presentation titled "Sharing West China Orthopedics' Experience in Party Building," tracing the inspiring journey of the West China Orthopedics Party Branch over the years. She highlighted the branch’s achievements in ideological and organizational development, as well as its commitment to fostering integrity within the department. Additionally, she detailed how the branch has seamlessly integrated Party-building efforts into the broader strategic initiatives of West China Hospital—namely, "Building Plateaus, Scaling Peaks, and Accelerating Two Key Initiatives with One Central Focus." Through these efforts, West China Orthopedics has not only strengthened its internal cohesion but also positioned itself as a leader in innovation and excellence. Finally, Professor Chen shared valuable insights into the practical application of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era within the context of Party building, offering practical guidance and inspiration for the Surgical (Joint) Party Branch at West China Guang'an Hospital.
During the meeting, the party branches of both sides also engaged in an in-depth exchange on various topics, including enhancing medical care service capabilities, comprehensively improving patients' healthcare experiences, and continuously strengthening nursing research expertise. In addition to the party-building and business discussions, the delegation from the West China Orthopedics Party Branch visited two nursing units in the surgical area of West China Guang'an Hospital, providing hands-on guidance, participating in case discussions, and offering management advice.
The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China calls for prioritizing people’s health in strategic development, making it a key approach to expanding high-quality medical resources and ensuring their balanced regional distribution. The series of activities organized by West China Orthopedics—focused on "Party building leading collaborative development and bringing high-quality medical resources down to grassroots levels"—is a vivid demonstration of thoroughly studying and implementing the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, as well as a concrete step toward putting Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era into practice. This recent party-building exchange event held at West China Guang'an Hospital not only strengthens the hospital’s capabilities in orthopedic party building and medical care but also further aligns West China Orthopedics’ party work with its overall institutional growth, ultimately enhancing the department’s ability to drive regional influence and leadership.
