On July 21, 2023, the third event in the Orthopedics series—focused on "Party Building Leading Collaborative Development and the Deployment of High-Quality Medical Resources"—was successfully held at West China Guang'an Hospital of Sichuan University.

Led by Professor Ningning, Director of the Orthopedics Nursing Discipline at the Orthopedics Party Branch; Professor Chen Jiali, Head Nurse of the Orthopedics Department; and Professors Zhou Quan and Chen Hua, Secretary of the Joint Party Branch of Surgery at West China Guang'an Hospital of Sichuan University and Head Nurse of the respective department, respectively, more than 50 representatives—including delegates from the West China Orthopedics Party Branch, as well as party members and key officials from various departments within the surgical area of West China Guang'an Hospital—attended this joint Party-building event.

At the beginning of the event, Professor Hua Chen, Head Nurse of the Department of Urology and Chief of Surgery at Huaxi Guang'an Hospital, introduced the participants from both sides. Professor Quan Zhou, Secretary of the Joint Party Branch of the Department of Surgery at Huaxi Guang'an Hospital and Director of Spinal Surgery, warmly welcomed the arrival of the orthopedic experts from Huaxi. He expressed his hope that this party-building exchange would serve as a catalyst to strengthen ties with Huaxi Orthopedics, facilitate the sharing of high-quality medical resources to local areas, enhance the quality and standards of healthcare services provided by Huaxi Guang'an Hospital, and ultimately foster collaborative momentum to better serve the broader community.

Professor Chen Jiali, Organizing Committee Member of the Orthopedics Party Branch and Head Nurse of the Orthopedics Department, on behalf of all colleagues from West China Orthopedics and every member of the party branch, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Surgical (Joint) Party Branch of West China Guang'an Hospital for their warm hospitality. She emphasized that West China Guang'an Hospital is a deeply integrated affiliate of West China Hospital, with ties that run even deeper than blood—both institutions consistently support each other, fostering mutual growth and achieving remarkable results. Notably, Professor Wang Guanglin from our institute’s Trauma Specialty once served as the president of West China Guang'an Hospital, further strengthening the bond between West China Orthopedics and its Guang'an counterpart. Professor Chen Jiali concluded by highlighting the significance of this joint Party-building initiative, expressing hope that it will not only promote the clinical philosophies and cultural values of West China Hospital and its Orthopedics Department but also deepen mutual understanding between the two institutions. This, she added, will lay a solid foundation for even more meaningful collaboration and exchange in the future. Following her remarks, Professor Chen delivered a presentation titled "Sharing Experiences in Party Building within West China Orthopedics," tracing the inspiring journey of the Orthopedics Party Branch over the years. She shared valuable insights into the branch’s achievements across various dimensions—including ideological development, organizational strengthening, fostering integrity in orthopedic practices, and innovative party-building activities. Additionally, she underscored how the branch has seamlessly integrated its efforts into the broader strategic vision of West China Hospital: "Building Plateaus, Scaling Peaks, and Accelerating Two Initiatives while Establishing a Central Hub." Finally, she provided a comprehensive showcase of best practices in studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, offering practical guidance that can serve as a valuable reference for the Surgical (Joint) Party Branch at West China Guang'an Hospital.

During the meeting, the party branches of both sides also engaged in an in-depth exchange on various topics, including enhancing medical care service capabilities, comprehensively improving patients' healthcare experiences, and continuously strengthening nursing research expertise. In addition to the discussions on Party building and clinical practices, the delegation from the Huaxi Orthopedics Party Branch visited two nursing units in the surgical area of Huaxi Guang'an Hospital, where they provided professional guidance, participated in case discussions, and offered management advice.

The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China calls for placing the health and well-being of the people as a strategic priority, with promoting the expansion of high-quality medical resources and ensuring their balanced regional distribution identified as a key approach. The series of activities organized by the West China Orthopedics Department—focused on "Party building leading collaborative development and bringing high-quality medical resources down to grassroots levels"—stands as a vivid example of thoroughly studying and implementing the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, as well as a concrete step in putting Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era into practice. This recent party-building exchange event held at West China Guang'an Hospital not only enhances the hospital’s capabilities in both orthopedic party building and clinical care but also fosters greater synergy between the department’s party work and its overall institutional development, further strengthening West China Orthopedics’ role as a regional leader and driver of healthcare advancement.
